Das Festival BROWSER2021 präsentiert vom 11.-13. Juni neue kollaborative Kunstwerke, die eigens für Webbrowser komponiert wurden.
Das kreative Potenzial der zeitgenössischen Musik im Internet wird bei weitem nicht voll ausgeschöpft. Daher beauftragten BROWSER2021 und das Stuttgarter Kollektiv für Aktuelle Musik Künstler*innen und Webentwickler*innen, neue Musikwerke mit genuinen Online-Qualitäten zu schaffen. Diese interaktiven und multimedialen Stücke werden im Livestream sowie parallel in einem virtuellen Konzertsaal uraufgeführt. Der soziale Raum der Online-Veranstaltung wird dabei attraktiv gestaltet und thematisiert. Die Künstler*innen und Webentwickler*innen sind anwesend und sprechen über ihren kreativ-technischen Prozess.
Das gesamte Projekt wurde digital mit Teilnehmern aus fünf Kontinenten durchgeführt und macht BROWSER2021 nicht nur zu einem Ort für neue Webkunst, sondern auch für neue Modelle für künstlerische Ensemblearbeit. Ähnlich wie bei der Kooperation von Instrumentalist*innen mit Komponist*innen, arbeiteten hier Künstler*innen und Webentwickler*innen zusammen. Parallel zum Werkauftrag fanden vier offene Workshops statt, in denen Gäste eine Vielzahl von technischen und ästhetischen Anregungen zu Webkunst und Multimedia präsentierten. BROWSER2021 gibt damit einer aufstrebenden Szene für webbasierte Musik eine Plattform.
BROWSER2021 – Festival for Web-based Music
The festival BROWSER2021 will showcase online from June 11th to 13th new collaborative artworks composed for the web browser.
The creative potential for an online music experience is by far widely underutilized. For this reason commissioned BROWSER2021 together with the Stuttgarter Kollektiv für Aktuelle Musik artists and web developers to create new works of music with inherently online qualities. Interactive, multimedia, and social in nature, the pieces will be premiered on livestream and in a virtual concert space. The creators will also be present and speak about their creative and technical process.
The entire project has been held digitally with participants from across five continents, making BROWSER2021 not only a space for new web art, but also for new models of artistic collaboration. Similar to how an instrumentalist collaborates with a composer, artists and web developers worked together to create new works. In tandem with the commission, four open workshops were held where guests gave a variety of technical and aesthetic presentations related to web art and multimedia. As a result BROWSER2021 has offered an exciting platform for the aspiring web-based music scene.
